Haute by hand | How it all began....
A little backstory of our founder and designer Harshita More began her journey of creativity and passion …
A lifelong passion for colors and crafts led her to pursue Textile Design at NIFT Kolkata, where she discovered her love for weaves and textures. It was there that the dream of building something rooted in traditional craftsmanship began to take shape.
In 2013, soon after graduating, she launched Haute by Hand — a brand dedicated to creating exclusive, handmade products that blend time-honoured techniques with contemporary aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from high fashion and Indian heritage, she experimented with various product lines before finding a true calling in Crochet and Amigurumi toys for children. The response was overwhelming, and it marked the beginning of an exciting entrepreneurial journey.
What started as a solo venture from home gradually evolved into a thriving women-led collective. As demand grew through exhibitions and social media, she began teaching the basics of crochet to a small group of women. Today, we are a team of artisans, working not only to craft beautiful products but also to empower one another through skill-sharing and self-reliance.
Along the way, we faced challenges—from sourcing quality materials to building a sustainable production system and encouraging women to step into the workforce. But every hurdle strengthened our resolve.
